Personal interviews are scheduled for early December. This one-day event offers candidates the opportunity to meet UCA DPT students and faculty and see all that our campus has to offer. The University of Central Arkansas (UCA) Ph.D. in High Performance Physical Therapy (DPT) program provides students with the opportunity to: 1) acquire the knowledge and skills to practice physiotherapy without the need for a referral from another practitioner,2) develop professional traits and leadership skills that will enable the student to successfully start the profession3) study with nationally renowned leaders and international in this field, using the latest evidence-based research. Admission to the program is upon completion of a high school diploma (in each field) with 37 hours of preparatory courses. The program lasts nine consecutive semesters (124 hours) and includes 39 weeks of clinical rotation. Clinical placements are available at various locations across the United States. During the program, students have the opportunity to work electively in specialties such as advanced macroscopic anatomy, advanced spinal cord injuries, water, cervical spine, lumbar spine, sports physiotherapy, and women`s health. Program costs are lower than the national average, and students residing in states bordering Arkansas (Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas) are offered state tuition. Other out-of-state students are eligible to apply for state tuition if they meet the on-campus housing requirement. UCA is also home to a PhD program in physiotherapy.
Students with a strong interest in research or teaching can apply for the DPT/PhD program after the first semester of the DPT program. UCA`s DPT program is physically located on a beautiful college campus with 11,000 students in the bustling town of Conway, located at the foot of the Ozark Mountains, just 22 miles from Little Rock. The physiotherapy department is located in a 40,000 square meter building entirely dedicated to physiotherapy. Community facilities include a 4,000-square-foot raw anatomy laboratory for physiotherapy, occupational therapy and sports training programs. The College of Health and Behavioural Sciences offers programs in nursing, communication sciences and disorders, dietetics, psychology, and exercise and sport sciences, and offers interprofessional education experiences to students in a new state-of-the-art interprofessional education centre. During the program, students learn from American Board of Physical Therapy certified faculty in neurology, pediatrics, sports, and pelvic health.
