There are also many social formats that can be played at almost any club in Australia, which is great for corporate days, business bowls, bucks/hens parties and many other social games. Once it rests, the jack is lined up in the middle of the rink and players take turns rolling their bowls from the mat to the jack, building the “head” (the accumulation of bowls around the jack). At the first end, the LEAD Bowler delivers two (2) of its four (4) bowls. This is followed by skip bowling, which plays all four (4) of their bowls. Finally, the LEAD then bowls its two (2) remaining bowls and completes the “end”. For those who are short on time, there are several versions of Social Bowls that are a much shorter and sharper version of the game. Played on Monday night, more than 13 ends, starting at 19:00 and ending at approx. 21:00 throughout the winter season, this mixed competition (men / women) with two players is designed to be an interesting variant of the bowling game, where the main difference lies in the format of the game, where both players lead and jump alternately. Once each participant has delivered all the bowls (two, three or four, depending on the competition), the distance between the boy and the nearest bowls is determined and points (called “moves”) are awarded to each participant`s bowl, which is closer than the bowl closest to the boy`s opponent. This is a very exciting and entertaining competition on 13 ends and is based on a league scale format using four (4) bowls per player. The exception is when the jack ends beyond the lateral boundary, resulting in a “dead end” that is repeated or replaced at a certain point – depending on competition rules. A precision sport in which the goal is to roll bowls (slightly radial asymmetrical balls) that are closest to a smaller white/yellow ball (the “Jack” or “Kitty”).
There are different formats in which lawn bowls can be played – each is tailored to the needs of different target groups. For example, if a competitor has three bowls closer to the boy than his opponent, he gets three shots. The league, with the exception of the above rules, complies with the general rules of bowling. (For more information, see the club`s bowling rules.) At the second end, the order of the game is reversed. The SKIP now plays the leading position and plays two (2) of its four (4) bowls. The LEAD player has now moved on to jumping and playing his four (4) bowls. Finally, the SKIP, which always plays in the lead for this purpose, plays its two (2) remaining bowls. Finding the right version of the game that suits your needs is all you need to do to enjoy the sport of bowling.
Lawn Bowls is the game that takes a second to learn, but a life to master. The team with the most points collected during the entire season will be declared the winner. Bowls can bend outside the boundaries of the rink, but must rest inside the border to stay in the game. Bowls that fall into the “ditch” (at the end of the green) are dead and removed from the game – unless you have established a connection with the jack (known as “touch”). This competition allows players who would not usually consider playing as a captain in a team to experience this position. For less experienced jumpers, it can also help improve their knowledge skills and confidence in these important positions within a team by learning to read the “head” more effectively. All matches MUST be played on the date set by the Secretary of the Australian Pairs League. All bowlers should note that the laws of The Sports of Bowls – Crystal Mark Third Edition, version May 3, 2019 are subject to copyright and must not be reproduced under any circumstances. The format of reversing game positions is then continued throughout the game. Bowlers may possess a copy of all Sports of Bowls laws (including national regulations) through your state/territory association or through the Bowls Australia online store. Jack Attack is a national social-competitive participation format of the game, which is now available in over 100 clubs across Australia.
