The Community Justice Centre is an innovative approach to legal empowerment that puts the community at the centre. The Kibera Community Justice Centre is a community legal aid and community legal resource centre equipped and managed by the community based in Kibera. This is a creative way to decentralize legal empowerment initiatives to improve access to justice for all, with community networks driving the process. This is a partnership between kituo cha sheria and NDFW in line with their shared mission to provide access to justice to poor and marginalized communities. NDFW exists to raise awareness of society`s rights as citizens responsible for participating in the management of decentralized funds. Nairobi Devolved Funds Watchdog (NDFW) is a non-political, non-profit and non-sectarian organization founded by a group of people from Dagoretti and Langata constituencies after realizing that the people of Nairobi, especially the Western District of Nairobi, needed to participate in the government process and effectively monitor various local initiatives because of their mandate as citizens. Since then, the group has expanded its activities to Nairobi. NDFW also works to strengthen the capacity of community members to claim their rights to better service delivery. The organization was founded in 2006 with its headquarters in Nairobi-Kenya and plans to open offices in other cities across the country. Towards an autonomous, committed and responsive society in terms of governance.
