Katonga was born on March 25 in Columbus, Georgia, and was admitted to the bar in Georgia in November 2007 and in Florida in August 2009. She is a graduate of Emory University, Atlanta, GA (BS Chemistry, Minor in Political Science, May 1999), where she was a Fellow of the American Chemical Society, was a Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry and was the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services Student Program Coordinator, Office Intern and Mentor M.O.R.E. Katonga graduated from G.W. Carver High School in 1995. She attended Georgia State University Law School (JD, May 2007) and studied international arbitration at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. During law school, she was a member of the Bleckley Inn of Courts and an Urban Fellow. Katonga has experience in insurance defense litigation with a focus on personal and commercial liability and is passionate about her work as an award-winning litigator. In addition to her practice as a lawyer, she has served as Co-Chair of the Travelers Staff Counsel Associate Summer Program, Southeast Regional Recruitment Coordinator for the Staff Counsel Diversity Committee, and a member of the Alpharetta Claims Services Centre Diversity Steering Committee. She has also worked with diversity initiatives within the Georgia State Bar. From 2010 to 2015, Katonga served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) as Vice President of its Columbus, GA subsidiary. She was President of the Fountain City Bar Association for 3 years. She is also a member of the Columbus Bar Association, the Columbus Inn of Court, a former member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Gate City Bar Association.
Katonga is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Links, Inc. She has served as Vice President of the Columbus Trade Center Authority and as a board member of the Columbus, GA Chamber of Commerce. She is the founder of the Master of My Fate Mentorship Program, a non-profit initiative that provides students with access to mentorship opportunities and career-related camps and programs.
